Friends, family members and law enforcement officials are still on the lookout for a local student and avid hiker who may be lost in the woods of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Lucas Baxter, 18, was last seen leaving campus at University of North Georgia on Friday.

Election day is rapidly approaching in Dahlonega as early voting wraps up. Advance voting began on Monday, October 12, and will continue to run until Friday, October 29.
The three owners of Holy Mountain Tattoo (pictured from left) Lil’ D, Sergio Lindop and Brian Snape searched for a good location for over two years, before settling on Dahlonega. Between them and the other tattoo artists they employ, they can do just about any style tattoos.

A new noise ordinance was approved quickly and quietly by the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners last Tuesday following months of spirited discussion and debate.
Brittani Abercrombie of Blackburn Elementary School, Leah Hulsey of Long Branch Elementary School, Jeff Bearinger of Lumpkin County High School, Amy Garrett of Lumpkin County Elementary School and Jammie Caine of Lumpkin County Middle School were all voted by their peers as the 2021 Teachers of the Year for their respective schools.
