Softball team uses busy July schedule to prepare for season

Summer workouts are well underway for the Lumpkin County High School Varsity Softball team as head coach Joseph Jones once again has his girls gearing up for another season of region championship contention. “June went very well,” Jones said.

High school wrestlers to represent Lumpkin at Nationals

When wrestlers representing each state in America arrive this weekend in Fargo for the 2022 U.S. Marine Corps Junior and 16U Nationals to do battle, Lumpkin County will be represented.

When Gannon Flakes walked off the baseball field at LCHS following his final game as an Indian, he thought it would be the last time playing the sport he’d loved for the last 14 years, with his dream of one day playing college baseball fading away.

Youth football camp welcomes kids for week of fun

It started with tackling padded dummies and skill drills and ended up with games and awards. But the one constant throughout last week’s Football Youth Camp was the smiles and laughter, which for LCHS Football head coach Heath Webb was the true goal all along. “We had a blast,” Webb said.

Football team welcomes squads for training camp

For new Lumpkin County High School football coach Heath Webb, the commotion seen last week as teams from five different schools came together on the LCHS football field was just simply taking advantage of an opportunity.

Simpson to follow childhood dream to play in college

Despite the struggles that often overshadowed any success for LCHS football in the last four years, Cameron Simpson had a feeling his hard work would pay off. “The struggle is just something that comes with playing the sport, I’ve always liked to endure it,” he said.

Basketball team battles tough summer competition

The Lumpkin County High School boys basketball team is back in the gym this summer, which for head coach Michael Parker, is right where he’s wanted to be for months. “I love being back in the gym with our guys,” Parker said.
