Lumpkin football stands strong to top Temple on homecoming

An early offensive burst and a late defensive show of strength gave the Lumpkin County High School football squad a thrilling victory over visiting Temple High School on homecoming weekend. It was the Indians fourth win of the season.

Cross country runners race to personal bests in North Hall

Lumpkin County cross country runners found themselves facing some unexpected circumstances at the North Hall Invitational last week: An actual nice day. Yes, the mud and muck of the early season races finally cleared, leaving a clear path to some impressive finishes.

Varsity football tops Riverside 61-7 in opener

On a rain-soaked night in Dahlonega, the Lumpkin County varsity football team put on a display of dominance versus Riverside Military Academy of Gainesville. Using mostly a powerful ground attack, the Indians earned a 61-7 victory against the visiting Eagles.

Cross country teams make a splash in muddy meet

The gritty, gutsy runners of the Lumpkin County High School Cross Country team aren’t afraid of a little mud. Or, in the case of Saturday’s meet, a lot of mud.

Softball edges Gilmer thanks to strong pitching performance

The Lumpkin County Indians had a solid showing last Tuesday as ace Natalie Shubert threw fire from the mound, striking out a total of 14 flummoxed Gilmer County batters.

Lumpkin football starts season tonight vs. Riverside

As the Lumpkin County High School football team prepares to take the field for the first time this season on Friday, it’ll be the official start of a long journey, one new head coach Heath Webb expects will take the Indians into uncharted waters and a new chapter of Lumpkin County football.
