The season honors poured in for the Lumpkin County varsity football squad last week as ten players were named to the 7-AAA All-Region team.

Girls basketball beats Chestatee for fifth-straight win

The Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball team returned from the Thanksgiving holidays with a non-region matchup versus Chestatee (8A-AAAA) on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Lumpkin was able to come away with their fifth-straight win to start the season with a 71-39 victory over the War Eagles.

Middle school wrestling battles Clear Creek in close match as season nears conclusion

The Lumpkin County Middle School wrestling team was in full gear as they traveled to Clear Creek last week. It was a highly-contested back and forth battle against the Bobcats for the region’s second seed going into the postseason. However, Lumpkin came up just short, falling 44-40 in the meet.

Lumpkin rifle team tops Riverside for second-straight win

The Lumpkin County High School rifle team continued their sharp-shooting ways on November 15 as they topped Riverside Military Academy for a first place finish against the Eagles.

High School wrestling team is off to strong start

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling program had a busy week during the Thanksgiving break with the team battling tough competitors. The Indians traveled to the Buford Invitational on Saturday, November 19. The Lumpkin varsity squad earned 11th out of 19.

Girls basketball goes undefeated in Gladiator Showcase tournament

It was a successful start to the Thanksgiving break for the Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball team as they won both games at the Gladiator Showcase at Johns Creek High School. To start the tournament on Monday, Nov. 21, the Indians defeated Woodstock (Region 6-AAAAAA) 69-23.

Lumpkin wrestling begins season taking on tough teams

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling team competed in their first home meet of the season last week, hosting Flowery Branch, Banks County, and Chestatee in a quad meet. The Indians were able to take down two out of three teams in the competition at the Tribe House.

By Cannon Crompton The Nugget After plenty of preparation in the off-season, the Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball team returned to regular season action last week, hosting East Jackson. Lumpkin was in control throughout the game, earning a 63-38 victory.

Lumpkin football team concludes outstanding season in playoffs

The Lumpkin County varsity football team’s outstanding season came to a close on Saturday in the playoffs with a 49-21 loss to a tough Oconee County squad. The Warriors went straight to work scoring their first of seven touchdowns with 10:55 remaining in the first quarter.
