Eighth grade girls basketball comeback falls short against Rebels

A gritty clash with the Fannin County Rebels in a regional tournament resulted in the end of a hard-fought season for the Lumpkin County Middle School’s Eighth Grade Basketball last week.

Girls basketball nets big victories against Wolves and Warriors

It was a winning week for the Lady Indians Basketball team as they traveled to White County to take on the 15-3 Warriors and then squared off with the 15-2 Wesleyan Wolves at home. The Indians were able to walk away with big victories in both games.

Boys basketball overcomes second-half surge to beat Dawson

Facing off with Dawson County in an intense rivalry game at home Tuesday night, the Indians were looking for a win going into their remaining regional schedule, and also to improve their overall standings on the season.

Swim team dives into competition at Habersham meet

The Lumpkin County High School swim team competed in a large meet in Habersham last weekend, which included over 450 total swimmers. The Indians took ninth place overall, with region rival Dawsonville placing 16th overall. Head Coach Luke Maloney liked seeing what the team achieved.

Girls basketball takes down Dawson

The Lumpkin County varsity girls team got back to their winning ways last week with a solid region win over neighboring rival Dawson County. The Indians took care of business against the Tigers last Tuesday in Dahlonega with the 54-45 victory. The first quarter was a low scoring affair.

LCHS boys basketball hosts Gold City Shootout tournament

Lumpkin played host to the Gold City Shootout this week where several teams had the opportunity to compete against some top level competition. The JV boys faced off with Chestatee to start the event and were able to thoroughly defeat the War Eagles 50-20.

Eighth grade girls basketball takes down Fannin Rebels

The Lumpkin County eighth grade girls basketball team hosted the Fannin County Rebels last week, in what was a fiercely contested game. The Indians were able to walk away with the 38-32 win but not before they earned the right to do so. The team also took the night to honor their eighth graders.

Lumpkin wrestling impresses in Area Duals

The Lumpkin County High School wrestlers competed in the Area Duals at White County to finish out last week’s competition. Both the girls and boys varsity teams took third place overall and moved on to the next round of the State Duals.

Girls basketball battles top teams at tourney

The Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball team traveled to Greeneville, Tenn. during the Christmas break to compete against some high-level opponents. Lumpkin came into the tournament with a 12-1 record and ranked No. 2 in the state in Class AAA.

High school wrestling team takes on Hook’em Horns tournament

In a field stacked with tough competitors, the Lumpkin County varsity wrestling team took 9th place overall at the Hook’em Holiday Classic at Lambert High School. The large 40-team tournament was held December 29–30 and included some of the best teams in the Southeast.
