The Lumpkin Indians 8U All-Star baseball team thrilled local fans and got to create some great memories last week as they played their way to the State Championship.

The mission of the Dahlonega ConnectAbility program is to create communities where people of all abilities are valued, included, and empowered. This goal has manifested itself in many different ways. One such way has been the Race for a Reason Program.

Teams host athletic camps for summer participants

Lumpkin County High School held summer camps last week where several of Lumpkin’s future athletic stars had the opportunity to work alongside high school coaches and athletes. The softball team hosted their camp from June 5-7.

Wrestlers work hard in summer for success in winter

Back in purple, tights, that is. The Lumpkin wrestling team had the opportunity to get back to work this past weekend as they competed in a summer wrestling event that was held at Archer High School.

Dahlonega gymnastics team crowned as State Champions

The Dahlonega Gymnastics team competed in the Georgia AAU State Championships in Carrollton and crowned several State Champions. The team boasts a total of 72 athletes on the roster from various ages and skill levels.

Travel softball team returns to Dalton tournament against tough opponents

The North Georgia Girls (NGG) travel softball team from Lumpkin returned to Dalton this weekend to compete in another tournament that saw some tough competition. The team started at a disadvantage, needing more players and had to bring in a few from their 12U program.

Senior athletes sign college scholarships

Several Lumpkin athletes signed to play at the collegiate level following their successful seasons at LCHS. Nicole Limehouse, Mary Mullinax, Lexi Pierce, and Kate Jackson put pen to paper this school year as they set their sights on working toward a bright future.

Lumpkin wrestlers compete in Southeast Regionals

Lumpkin wrestlers had the opportunity to compete in the South-East Regional Championships over the weekend. They represented the county and the state against some of the best competitors in the southeastern region of the U.S.
