Lumpkin rifle team takes aim at postseason

The Lumpkin County High School Rifle team saw a very successful week, picking up two straight wins over Parkview and Roswell. On Tuesday, February 5, the team hosted Parkview and scored a season-high of 1141. Parkview ended the meet with a total of 1063 points.

For wrestlers, Traditionals represent one of the most challenging phases of their season. Each individual wrestler embarks on the quest to compete at the state level as an individual athlete.

The Lumpkin County High School boys’ wrestling team advanced nine athletes to Sectionals last week following their Area Championships on Saturday, February 1. The Lumpkin Nine now set their sights on conquering Sectionals and advancing to the State Championships.

Lumpkin basketball teams pick up wins

It was a week of resilience and determination for Lumpkin County basketball. The Lady Indians high school basketball team waged a tough battle against a skilled North Hall team, narrowly losing 57-54. Undeterred, the team bounced back with an impressive 64-13 victory over Johnson.

Last week, the Lumpkin County High School basketball team faced off against their long-standing region rivals, Dawson. This showdown, known as ‘rivalry week’, is a highly anticipated event for both the players and the fans.

After earning their way into the 6-AAA State Championship Duals, everything came to a head for the Lumpkin County High School wrestling team. Fresh off their second straight Regional Championship, the team battled their way through the State brackets and came away with a third place finish.

Basketball teams battle White Co. and GAC

The Lumpkin County High School basketball teams battled through a busy week of competition last week. Their first set of games on Thursday, January 16, saw the Indians venture to White County to take on the Warriors. The boys squad picked up a 53-45 win over White County, while the girls fell 63-30.
