UNG intramural teams light up social media

For two local University of North Georgia intramural teams, what started as a casual idea morphed into an extraordinary event. UNG’s Bojangles Demons and Billygoat Ballers are two intramural sports teams made up mostly of seniors.

Soccer teams earn wins in regional play

Both Lumpkin County High School soccer teams picked up wins last week. The Indians hosted Banks County on Thursday and Franklin County on Friday. The Lady Indians ended their week with two wins, while the guys split their games 1-1.

Lumpkin baseball team starts season strong

The Lumpkin County High School baseball team rolled past Towns County on Friday and Fannin County on Saturday afternoon to improve to a 5-0 start to the season. The Indians made short work of Towns County, but hit a wall when they squared off against the Rebels.

Boys soccer team battles early adversity to start season

Soccer season saw its official kickoff this week as the Lumpkin County High School varsity team hosted East Forsyth and Gainesville. The team fell short in both games, succumbing to East Forsyth 4-0 and Gainesville 4-2.

At the conclusion of last year’s games, the Lady Indians saw the departure of Girls Soccer Head Coach Don Brock, who led the Lady Indians to eleven straight state playoff appearances.

Lumpkin basketball competes in Region Tournament

All things basketball came to a head last week as local teams battled for the coveted top spot in the Region 6-AAA Tournament. All eight teams converged at Pickens County High School. Pickens County stood at the top of the brackets when the dust settled, claiming the Regional Title.

Lumpkin baseball looking impressive at start of season

The Lumpkin County High School baseball team saw an explosive start to their season, picking up two wins. The team was initially scheduled to compete in three games, but rainy weather forced the squad to reschedule their game against West Hall.

Lumpkin wrestlers earn State Championships

The Lumpkin County High School girls and boys wrestling teams both saw some impressive results in the recent Traditional State Championships. GIRLS TEAM The LCHS girls team looks to set the standard for female wrestling throughout the State.

Basketball teams wrap up regular season

It was an eventful week for Lumpkin County basketball, as teams competed in two different games to close out the regular season against Chestatee and White County. In addition to this week’s games, All-Region honors were announced, and the team held their Senior Night as they took on the Warriors.
