One phrase that has seemingly been repeated in recent years across the sports pages of The Dahlonega Nugget is Lumpkin football makes history. From regular season wins to deep playoff runs every year, the team is always reaching for new heights. This season hasn’t been any different.

Cross Country competes in Wingfoot Classic

The Lumpkin County cross country teams raced their way through the Wingfoot Classic in Clarkesville last weekend. It was a huge annual event that is sponsored by the Atlanta Track Club.  The boys’ squad competed against 33 other teams and came away with a fifth-place overall finish.

Lumpkin cross country races to win at UNG Gainesville

The Lumpkin County cross country team, in a display of collective strength, hosted their annual home meet at the UNG Gainesville campus last week. The boys’ team emerged victorious, clinching a first-place finish overall, outperforming 14 other schools.

Volleyball team picks up memorable win over White County

Things are definitely looking up for the Lady Indians volleyball team. Last week, the squad achieved a significant milestone by securing their first victory over White County since 2021. It was a hard-fought win that went down to a third tie-breaking set.

Mountain bike team kicks off season with first-place finish

The Lumpkin County High School mountain bike team hit the trail last week as they made the long haul to Milledgeville on Saturday. It was an excellent showing for the traveling squad as they came away with a first-place team finish.

Seven is known for being a lucky number, but will it spell luck for the Lumpkin County High School softball team? The Lady Indians continue to roll through AAA Region Six competition as they move to 7-0 in regional play. Last week, the team took on region foes Pickens County and Chestatee.

Lumpkin softball squad improves to 5-0 in region

The Lumpkin County High School softball team improved its regional standing to 5-0 last week after picking up significant wins over North Hall 5-3 and White County 4-3.  Taylor Burton had a standout week both at the plate and in the chalked circle.
