All-Region Honors were released for the recent football season last week, and the list was stacked with several Lumpkin County High School athletes. Sixteen Individual athletes earned the recognition after stringing together great seasons.

Lumpkin basketball teams earn victories

Lumpkin County High School basketball teams continue to string together strong performances. The boys team improved their undefeated record to 10-0 as the girls squad moved to 7-3. The boys toppled Pickens County 70-49, moving to 2-0 in Region Six AAA competition, and defeated East Jackson 70-56.

Lumpkin County High School wrestling seniors took center stage last week, as the team hosted their annual Senior Night. The squad took time to honor the members of this year’s graduating class who have stepped into leadership roles for the team.

Boys basketball topples GAC and improves to 8-0

Eight is the magic number for the Lumpkin County High School basketball team. Last week, the team was able to write some history of their own following a 44-37 win over Greater Atlanta Christian. The squad improved their overall standing to 8-0 and 1-0 in Region Six AAA competition.

The Lumpkin County High School swim team has been breaking in the newly installed pool heater since the start of their season. The chance at being able to practice in a local pool was a little bit murky at the start of the year.

Local 14U flag football team wins State Championship
Eligha Roper
The Lumpkin County 14U Parks & Rec flag football team battled their way to a State Championship victory on December 7. The team dominated their way through some of the best teams the State had to offer. In the Playoffs the squad defeated Dooly 46-8, Hall County 28-6 and in the finals Cherokee 13-0.

Girls wrestling topples Carrollton on Senior Night

It was another busy week of action for the Lumpkin County High School wrestling teams as they competed in several meets, the girls team hosted their annual Senior Night, picking up a 66-18 win over Carrollton, and then competed in a duals meet at Gilmer High School.
