J.T. Wright has been pretty busy the last few weeks, the local top shot made his official commitment to Morehead State College and during one of this week’s meets he set a new individual school record for highest score shooting a 298/300.

Lumpkin rifle team downs Stone Mountain with season-high score

The Lumpkin County High School rifle team scored a season-high 1,134 at home in their victory against Stone Mountain.  LCHS team members showed that they can apply techniques learned in practice and keep a calm demeanor to help them achieve success.

Lumpkin team continues to set standard for girls wrestling

The Lady Indians High School wrestling team continues to set the standard for girls wrestling in the state and maybe even the entire southeast region of the United States. The team saw two dominant performances last week as they ventured to Mobile, Alabama and Jackson County.

Lumpkin basketball teams pick up wins at Truett McConnell

For the first time since 2015 The Lumpkin County High School boys basketball team is 6-0. The squad made the trip to Truett McConnell last weekend and faced off against Walnut Grove. In a display of strength, the Indians were able to come away with a 69-39 win.

Great start to season for Lumpkin Co. girls basketball team

The Lumpkin County Girls High School basketball team improved their overall record to 4-0 this year after picking up two wins over the Towns County Indians. It was a dominant display that saw the Indians come out on top 75-31 in Game One and 68-24 in Game Two.

Girls basketball tops Stephens County, Boys defeat East Forsyth

The Lady Indians basketball team saw a familiar face last weekend. New Head Coach Brian Richerson and team welcomed in former Head Coach Tess Wright who now leads Stephens County for their second regular season game of the year.  It was a clash between the past and present.

Lumpkin football wraps up season in State Playoffs

All good things must come to an end, and the Lumpkin County High School football team wrapped up another great season following their fourth straight with a State Playoff appearance. The Indians met a very tough Calhoun in the first round of brackets and succumbed to the Yellow Jacket swarm 35-13.

Girls wrestling dominates in out-of-state competition

It was an interesting week for the Lady Indians wrestling team as they ventured to Alabama to compete in a Duals wrestling tournament, Lumpkin went undefeated in the meet 6-0 and even defeated one of Alabama’s State Champion teams from last year.
