New road project is a roundabout way to real progress

The intersection of Oak Grove Road and Highway 19-Business may not look like much during most of the week. But on certain days. And at certain times. It can transform into a traffic trap that seems to rival the most hectic of Atlanta intersections. A mini-Malfunction Junction if you will.

By Jennifer Ramsay / The Nugget Nicholas Anderson never set out to become Lumpkin County High’s STAR student. In fact, he didn’t even know it existed. “When they told me I was STAR student I just kinda blew it off,” he said. “Like it was cool but I didn’t know what it meant.

After a lengthy executive session during the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners’ May meeting, the board emerged with a new county manager. The board voted unanimously to hire Alan Ours, previously of Glynn County, to be Lumpkin’s new county manager at the May 18 meeting.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian look ahead to future challenges

When Lumpkin County High School’s Amelia Langston and Ethan Fox each crossed the stage and received their diplomas during Saturday’s graduation ceremony, they did so knowing they were closing a chapter of their lives filled with memories.
