Lumpkin County lost a leader and a friend on Sunday night with the passing of Lumpkin County Commissioner Dr. David Miller. Miller, who had been battling an illness, was serving as the District 1 Commissioner, as well as Vice Chairman on The Holly Theater’s Board of Directors.

Lumpkin Heroes enjoy day on the diamond

Escaped elk leads to roundup

The green grass on the other side of the fence proved too tempting for a trio of elk who reportedly managed to escape from Chestatee Wildlife Preserve & Zoo recently. And a resulting online warning issued by county officials turned some heads on Facebook last Thursday. “Watch out for elk!
The historic "Head House" was built by Homer Head for himself and his wife around the first decade of the 1900s. It was built from lumber purchased by Dr. Head after the local Baptist Church was torn down. Now owned by the City of Dahlonega, the house could become the new home of the DDA.

Downtown historic house ready for renewal
