When a customer pulled out a semi-automatic pistol at the counter of the Highway 60 Dollar General last Sunday evening, the on-duty cashier’s first reaction was disbelief. “Due to the community being like it is, the lady said she at first thought, ‘Are you kidding me?'” said Sheriff Stacy Jarrard.

The golden tipped steeple of Price Memorial Hall is getting a new $400,000 shine. Last week work began on a highly specialized regilding process that will remove the old layer of gold from the top of the iconic University of North Georgia building and replace it with a brand new layer.
