The City of Dahlonega will see a new face during its city council meetings at the start of the new year after Johnny Ariemma tallied enough votes in a tight race against opponent Tony Owens for the Post 4 seat during Tuesday’s general/special municipal election.

Dahlonega will once again be filled with kids, costumes and candy this Thursday as the city and its residents celebrate Halloween with Trick-or-Treat Dahlonega. The city’s annual celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Public Square.
Approximately 600 law enforcement officers reported to the scene of a controversial rally and counter protest on the Public Square last month. The Nugget has contacted all participating agencies in an attempt to compile an overall price tag for security at the event.

A local college student’s lack of footwear was key to his arrest last Tuesday morning following a pair of attempted break-ins at two Dahlonega pharmacies, said officials with the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.
