Authorities organized a widespread manhunt for Austin Todd Stryker last month after the body of 21-year-old Dahlonega resident Hannah Bender was discovered in a shallow grave in Forsyth County.
Murder suspect extradited from Pittsburgh

Austin Todd Stryker was expected to return to Lumpkin County on Tuesday for the first time since he allegedly fled the state following the murder of 21-year-old Dahlonega resident Hannah Bender, according to officials.
“It’s expected sometime today,” said Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard.

Lumpkin reaches new graduation rate record

Lumpkin County High School consistently beats the state when it comes to graduation rates. This year it beat its own highest percentage since 2015, with a rate of 95.54 percent.
For high school principal Billy Kirk, that was the magic number to reach when he came here a little over two years ago.
