Girls Soccer earns two region wins

The Lumpkin County Girls Soccer team battled through physical play and the elements to bring home two region wins last week to keep on pace to its goal of winning a region championship.
Setting records all the way, the Lumpkin County Girls Basketball team, with an overall record of 30-1, completed its mission by winning the GHSA State Championship in Macon on Friday, defeating GAC in the final seconds, 51-47.

The Lumpkin County High School girls basketball team is State Champion! It was an exhilarating down-to-the-wire victory for the Indians as they topped Greater Atlanta Christian by a score of 51-47 to claim the state title on Friday afternoon. Check back for a full story.

After finally breaking through for a goal late in the first half, the LCHS Girls Soccer team piled onto Dawson in the second half, adding another four goals while holding the clean sheet defensively to open region play with a 5-0 win.

The Indians answered back twice, tying the game at 1-1 and 2-2, but were unable to hold on for a result at Dawson County, falling 4-2 at the hands of their bitter rivals.

The Lumpkin County Baseball team continued their hot start to the season with two mercy-rule victories over Johnson High School last week, winning by scores of 15-0 and 10-0 respectively.

Girls soccer team continues strong start to season

After bringing home a region championship and making a run to the Sweet 16 in the State Tournament last season, the LCHS Girls Soccer team is looking to continue the program’s run of success. Going into Tuesday’s final non-region match, the Indians held a 8-2 record overall.
