Lumpkin softball topples Forsyth Central, falls to Chattahoochee

The Lumpkin County softball team split their games this week, taking a 14-6 win over Forsyth Central at home and coming up short 10-4 to Chattahoochee on the UNG softball field. The Indians now move to 3-2 overall.

Softball sees successful start in non-region competition

The Lumpkin County High School softball team had a great start to their season last week, clashing with Rabun County, Grayson and Lanier. The team ended the week with an overall record of 2-1.

Lumpkin standouts now competing for UNG women’s basketball

Two of Lumpkin’s home-court athletes, Isabel Davenport and Lexi Pierce, have soared since becoming  University of North Georgia Nighthawks. And soon LCHS standout Averie Jones will join them on the court.

Volleyball squad set to kick off season

Anticipation is on the rise for the Lumpkin County High School volleyball team as their season gets underway this week. Lumpkin is set to begin their first week with four matches in the first three days. Head Volleyball Coach Haley Dibble is ready to get things underway.

Lumpkin softball prepares to start season

School is set to start soon, and that means the return of Fall sports. Several local teams and athletes have been hard at work over the summer months in preparation for the upcoming season.

Local wrestlers compete in world’s biggest tournament

Competing in USA Wrestling’s Fargo Nationals is a milestone achievement for most wrestlers. This week, three local wrestlers not only competed but thrived against the nation’s best on the mat in what is called the biggest wrestling tournament in the world.

Parks & Rec swim team crowns several State Champions

It’s been an exceptional year for the Parks & Rec swim team. Following the construction of the Pinetree Recreation Center, the team had an official home pool. This allowed the team to practice several different days throughout the week.

Director discusses the state of Lumpkin Athletics

Lumpkin County High School is coming off its most successful athletic year in school history. This week, at the July Board of Education meeting, Athletic Director Steve Horton gave insight into what that means for the county.
