Burglary suspect charged with arson

A Dahlonega man is accused of stealing a stove from a vacant home on Martins Ford Road and then returning to burn that home to the ground on the same day, according to officials with the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office. Walter McCrary Jr.

Aquatic center construction now underway

A crowd of government officials and excited onlookers gathered Friday morning at the end of Pinetree Way for the groundbreaking of the highly-anticipated aquatic center.

The Dahlonega City Council raised a figurative glass to the Bear on the Square fest last week as they unanimously agreed to loosen alcohol beverage restrictions for the upcoming downtown event.

Recycling committee kicks off plan to save program

The first meeting of the recently-formed Lumpkin County Recycling & Litter Committee kicked off on Thursday, with six of the nine committee members on hand to discuss the group’s tentative first steps.
