Lumpkin basketball battles tough region foes

The Lumpkin County High School basketball teams continued to battle their way through regional matchups last week as they clashed with White County and Greater Atlanta Christian. The boys squad was able to move their overall standings to 17-2, and 7-1 in region play.

Boys basketball remains undefeated in region play

The Lumpkin County High School boys’ basketball team recorded two significant region victories last week, maintaining an undefeated record in Region 6‑AAA play; the Indians defeated Chestatee High School, 70–35 and secured a narrow 80–74 win over North Hall High School.

The Lady Indians got a valuable sneak preview of State‑level competition last week as they welcomed Oglethorpe to The Tribe House, what unfolded was a familiar sight for Lumpkin County fans: a dominant, one‑sided performance that ended in a 72–12 victory.

Girls wrestling team earns second straight Area Championship

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling teams had the opportunity to compete for the Area Championship and punch their tickets to the Dual State Championships last week.  The Lady Indians ultimately took home the grand prize, outlasting Gilmer 84-0 and Central Carrolton 60-24.

Basketball teams earn victories over Dawson and Johnson

It was a strong week for Lumpkin County High School basketball as both the boys and girls teams secured key regional victories over Dawson and Johnson.  The boys defeated Dawson 82–69 and Johnson 70–32, improving to 13–1 overall and 3–0 in region play.

Proctor shocks collegiate level opponents at wrestling competition

Lumpkin County eighth grader Allie Proctor has been making a name for herself in a big way, last week the young wrestler traveled to Montgomery, Alabama to compete in the Red Lady College Open Tournament at Garrett Coliseum.
