High school wrestling team announces coaching changes

Big changes are on the mat for Lumpkin County High School boys wrestling as it was announced early last week that Joshua Ghobadpoor would be taking the reins as the new high head coach of the team. As an LCHS alum, Ghobadpoor seems to be a perfect replacement for popular Head Coach Sean Hage.

Lumpkin baseball keeps busy during Spring Break

While most teams took the week off for spring break, the Lumpkin County High School baseball team battled through four individual matchups.  The Indians closed out the series against Johnson with three victories (17-0, 11-1 and 7-0) and toppled Fannin County in a 5-4 game that came down to the wire.

The Lady Indians soccer team continued its dominant streak last week, triumphing over Chestatee and White County. The squad secured a resounding 8-0 victory against Chestatee and a convincing 6-0 win over White County.

Lumpkin tennis teams defeat Knights

The Lumpkin County High School tennis teams had a successful week of action as they defended their home court against the Johnson Knights. Each team won all five matchups, winning the meet 5-0. The boys squad improves to 13-3 overall with a region record of 5-1.

The Lumpkin County High School soccer teams picked up wins last week as they took on North Hall in regional action. Each team was able to come away with impressive wins, with the girls’ squad toppling North Hall 3-0.

Baseball team battles against tough GAC squad

It was a tough week of competition for the Lumpkin County High School baseball team. The squad competed in their regional series against Greater Atlanta Christian. GAC completed the clean sweep over the Indians, winning Game One 13-11, Game Two 8-5 and Game Three 12-4.

Special to The Nugget by James Wright  —————  The Lumpkin County High School Rifle Team competed in the GHSA State Championships on March 14 and 15th at the Ware County Shooting Sports Complex in Waycross. Only 17 teams out of 109 make it to the competition.
