Lumpkin Schools halt contact tracing for COVID-19

After contacting Lumpkin County Schools, The Nugget has learned that the school system has stopped conducting contact tracing and notifying parents of their students’ potential exposures to COVID-19.

The Anne Green Free Clinic, one of many services offered through Lumpkin County’s Community Helping Place, played host to a dedication ceremony and open house Sunday, Jan. 9.

Lumpkin County’s Chief Registrar and Elections Manager has been arrested after an investigation revealed her involvement in the theft of more than $400,000 worth of funds designated for charity, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Fifth graders shoot for field trip fun at UNG basketball game

For one day, the fifth graders at all three of Lumpkin County’s elementary schools had their curriculum slightly modified from the classic “Three R’s” to something a little more sweat-inducing. Running, rebounding and rally cries.

Marshal’s office will become Dahlonega police department

The Dahlonega Marshal’s Office is officially rebranding as the Dahlonega Police Department. The city council voted to approve the name change at a recent called meeting, just weeks after the new Chief Marshal, George Albert, officially took up duties.
