Education Records

In accordance with state and federal regulations implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), this notice is to inform you of Lumpkin County Schools intent to destroy records related to special education. Records will be destroyed that were collected, maintained, or used in providing a free appropriate public education for disabled and or exceptional students in the Lumpkin County School System. This notice is in compliance with the system's comprehensive plan for special education as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Lumpkin Special Education records for students who have not received Special Education Services from Lumpkin County for more than 3 years are considered no longer needed for educational purposes. If a student or parent would like copies of a student's special education records, he or she should contact Christie Castleberry in the Special Education Office of Lumpkin County Schools at 706-864-3611, extension 10108.

The Lumpkin County School System plans to destroy the above referenced Special Education records on 6/1/2024 and, then again, on 12/1/2024.
