Library Report
For the past several years, library patrons have been welcomed by the bursts of color and the lushness of a well-tended garden as they entered the front door of the library.
This was made possible by the hard work done by the ladies of the Garden Club at Achasta.
The Garden Club was responsible for purchasing the plants, shrubs and flowers that have adorned the front of the library since 2015.
In addition to their financial commitment, members of the club have contributed countless hours of sweat equity to keep everything looking top notch.
The library project has been a major part of the group’s community outreach, and Joan McGraw, who has coordinated the efforts states, “This has been a labor of love for our Dahlonega Community.”
The Lumpkin County Library is so appreciative of the faithful efforts of all of the ladies (and friends) of the Garden Club at Achasta.
Library patrons, staff and members of the community have all expressed their thanks and appreciation for the hard work, dedication and generosity shown by the Garden Club at Achasta.
American Red Cross blood drive
On Monday, July 29, from 12 – 5 p.m., the American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive in the downstairs meeting room of the library.
Sign up online at http://www.RedCrossBlood.org with the sponsor code “lumpkin” or by calling 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Before you donate: Drink extra caffeine-free fluids, like water or juice; eat a good meal or snacks; do not smoke for one hour before or after donation. Make sure to bring a photo ID with you the day of the blood drive.
Come out and help others in your community and stop in the library to check out a book, audiobook, or other materials.
