The Lumpkin County Middle School cross country teams placed six medalists at the recent Blue Ridge Hero Run with Keli George claiming second place in the girls division while Hagen Glenn won the boys division, followed by teammates Jack Fugich (3rd), Solomon Alhadeff (5th), Cooper Marling (6th) and Eli Branan (7th).
The teams followed that up with an impressive performance in their meet at White County where the boys once again finished first and the girls finished in third.
Head coach Brooke Flakes said she’s happy with both teams as they prepare for the League Championship meet that will determine if they make the state tournament.
“The boys are trying to keep the streak alive for the League Championship in Union,” she said. “The girls are working daily to improve their times and hope to come away with a top-3 spot.”
