The LCHS rifle team bounced back from its season-opening loss to defending Area Champions North Gwinnett and secured its first win of the 2019-2020 season when they defeated Parkview 1,110-1,058 on the road on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The Indians were led by team captain Colby Craddock, who earned Lumpkin’s Top Gun honors during the competition. The Top Gun team honor marked the second in as many matches for Craddock. The veteran shooter scored a 284 during the event.
Following behind Craddock was LCHS shooter Anthony Bauer, who shot a competition personal best score of 281.
Joshua Molina shot a 275, Liv Lusky shot a 270 and Levi Caldwell shot a 267 to round out the top five shooters for Lumpkin versus Parkview.
The victory marked the first of the 2019-2020 season for the LCHS rifle team.
The match also marked the second time this season that the LCHS rifle team recorded a score of 1,100 or higher, something that the team didn’t accomplish until midway through the season last year. The Indians scored exactly 1,100 in its season-opening 1,140-1,100 loss to North Gwinnett.
The LCHS rifle team will head back to the rifle range after the Thanksgiving holiday break when they host Roswell High School at the Indian Hunting Grounds Rifle Range on Thursday, Dec. 5. Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
