A standing-room-only crowd filled City Hall last Monday as a new wave of officials was sworn in for the new year.
JoAnne Taylor officially passed the gavel to Mayor Sam Norton in front of a packed house at Monday night’s City meeting.
This is the second stint as mayor for Norton, who served prior to Taylor.
He ran unopposed after Taylor announced plans to step down at the end of her term.
In addition to the mayor, a new wave of officials was sworn in for the new year.
Newly elected Dahlonega City Council member Tony Owens, Dahlonega Police Department Chief George Albert, Officer Christopher Weeks, Officer Nicholas Weathington, Officer Cody Sprague, Officer Hunter Bauman, Officer Noah Sprague, Officer Ceszar Ramos, Building Inspector Tim Martin and Code Enforcement Officer Clarence “Van” Mundy were all sworn in as well.
