The results are in for Election 2021 and it brings a new mayor, a new Lumpkin County commissioner and two new members to the Dahlonega City Council.
In the race for District 1 of the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners, Tucker Greene topped former city council member Mitchell Ridley by a total of 1,523 votes to 1,121.
On the city side, JoAnne Taylor will be Dahlonega’s next mayor as she netted 460 votes over her competitors Doug Sherrill, who garnered 310 votes, and Casey Alexander, who came away with 82 votes.
Ryan Reagin will be the next Post 3 city council member as he topped Tammi J. Scales by a tally of 439 votes to 386.
Ross Shirley, who was running unopposed for Post 2, took in 683 votes. Incumbent Roman Gaddis was also running unopposed and received 686 votes.
A referendum that would allow package sales of distilled spirits in the city limits breezed though the ballot with 669 yes votes and 184 no votes.
Elections Manager Rhonda Sheppard said it all made for a smooth Election Day.
“It went well,” she said. “We had a good turnout today.”
