Event organizer Rhonda Sheppard and Lumpkin County Commissioner David Miller are part of a team working to bring the #Lumpkin-Matters event to the community.

“I’m a local. I’m a Nugget and we don’t like to have people helping us,” said event organizer Rhonda Sheppard. “We’re self-sufficient, but this event is a resource fair. It’s just neighbor helping neighbor.”
The Healthcare Georgia Foundation funded initiative will take place this Saturday, September 21, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lumpkin County High School common area and will bring together a variety of free resources for locals.
For starters, Georgia Mountain food bank will be in attendance providing free produce.
The Community Helping Place will be providing free dry goods. The Lions Club will be administering free screenings, such as eye exams and general health screening, and many more vendors and services will be available.
There will also be a free cookout, a bouncy house for the little ones, and giveaways.
September is suicide awareness month, and the event will be honoring that by making the theme of the event ‘Celebrating Life’.
The event was made possible by a $100,000 grant that was obtained with the help of Lumpkin County Commissioner David Miller.
The event is open to all Lumpkin County residents.
