On December 7, friends and family of the late James Price "Pa" Chapman gathered together with Lumpkin County and state officials to dedicate the intersection of Hwy 52/115 and Major Abercrombie Rd. as James "Pa" Chapman Memorial Intersection.
Chapman's honor comes from The Georgia General Assembly and the Georgia Department of Transportation for "his valiant service in World War II as a heavy machine gunner for the 87th Mountain Infantry-10th Mountain Division," as well as "his dedication to his church and the Lumpkin County community through his leadership roles."
The dedication was attended by Senator Steve Gooch, Commission Chairman Chris Dockery and Commissioners Bobby Mayfield and David Miller.
