An all-star group of University of North Georgia alumni marked the beginning of a new era for the Gen. William "Lipp" Livsey Drill Field last week.
A total of 25 retired and active duty U.S. Army Generals gathered to celebrate the addition of the new plazas on the drill field during the Presidents Gathering of Generals event.
Alumni ranged from the Class of 1953 to the Class of 1998.
Enhancements totaled approximately $1.5 million. The university reported the improvements were made possible through donations from philanthropic and private gifts facilitated by the UNG Foundation.
The work, which began last November, included adding plazas and an entry gate onto the field.
“I am overwhelmed to see the final result of our vision,” said UNG President Michael Shannon, “...to bring the iconic to our sacred drill field and set the stage for delivering the best officer development program in America. Bold Forward!”
