The Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Club is putting a new spin on its annual fundraiser this year.
Instead of the Tribute Dinner, which has been the club’s key fundraiser for the past 15 years, Rotary is hosting A Night of Music at The Holly Theater.
The event is set for Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m.
The club’s president Tracy Sanford said it will help shine a spotlight on one of the things Dahlonega is known for.
“Instead of honoring just one person, which our tributes did, this year we’re saluting Dahlonega’s incredible music industry by celebrating a dozen or more gifted musicians in the four bands,” said Sanford.
Performing at the event will be the Kurt Thomas Band, Ugly Cousin, High Cotton, and Radford Windham & Step Back Cadillac, said Sanford.
“Concert guests should expect to experience a wide range of music, from bluegrass and southern rock to folk and country music all in one concert,” said Sanford. “The Night of Music is our opportunity to spotlight these local musicians and publicly thank them for their music and contributions to our community.”
In addition, the master of ceremonies for the all-Dahlonega-music night will be State Senate Majority Leader Steve Gooch.
“This red carpet, spotlight-shining concert is also a Rotary fundraiser,” said Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Event Chairman and Executive Director of the Holly Theater, Sarah Christopher. “Our goal with this event is to raise $50,000 for the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary Foundation and then return those funds back into our community.”
Sanford said tickets are $100 each and event sponsorships are available at hollytheater.com.
“With the $100 ticket price, you’ll receive a snack box, hear some of the best music in Georgia, and have the opportunity to give back to the people of Dahlonega and Lumpkin,” he said.
Night of Music sponsorships range from $200 to $5,000. Included in sponsorship levels of $2,500, $3,500, and $5,000 is a pre-concert party at the Holly where sponsors and guests can meet and mingle with the concert performers. The event’s major sponsor is Brown Haven Homes.
Dr. Pat Conarro, chairman of the Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation expects the new event to be a popular one.
“If you love Dahlonega music and our hometown musicians, then you’re going to love Rotary’s Night of Music,” said Conarro. “We expect a sell out and encourage the bands’ fans to book early.”
