Among the familiar faces who will be seen in new administrative positions within the local school system, you'll find Jane Mullinax, who was named the Director of Accountability for Lumpkin County Schools.
Mullinax, who served as principal of Long Branch Elementary School for the past 10 years, said she is very excited about the new opportunity.
“I have been an administrator in Lumpkin County for 18 years and this new role will allow me to continue to provide support to our schools, students, and community.”
In the new role, Mullinax will provide leadership and coordination for the district to meet state and federal guidelines, said an official school system statement earlier this summer.
She will be providing “technical assistance to district and school administrators in all areas related to student information systems, student data collection, and accountability requirements,” the statement said.
Mullinax said that she will be making sure that the demographic and academic course information for students that is sent to the state accurately reflects Lumpkin’s student body so the system receives the appropriate state and federal funds.
“Tonia Connor has been in this role and has done an amazing job,” Mullinax said. “I am looking forward to continuing her work. Additionally, I will be working with the schools in analyzing assessments to better guide our next steps and how we can make academic improvements.”
Mullinax said that through accountability, she will also be working with reporting information that is reflected in Lumpkin’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) score to ensure that the information is accurate.
“This new challenge will enable me to grow as a leader and extend my support to all of the schools, students, and staff in Lumpkin County,” she added.
Mullinax, who also served as the assistant principal at Blackburn Elementary School from 2004-2012, and a fifth and eighth grade teacher in Hall County from 1994-2004, said that serving as an administrator has been very rewarding and that she appreciates the support she has received over the years.
“When others ask me what it is like to be an Elementary Principal, I think it must be similar to being a Rock Star!” She said. “The students love giving you hugs and you are constantly needed by someone.”
Mullinax said she has been blessed to spend her time with such amazing people. “I will never forget all of the big smiles, hugs, and relationships that I have made over the years.”
