The Dahlonega Nugget is giving away a Dahlonega nugget. And this one’s not made of newspaper.
“This one's solid gold,” said Publisher Matt Aiken. “It was panned from a stream in Dahlonega and the folks at Consolidated Gold Mine says it's worth about $500."
And soon it will be hidden somewhere in Lumpkin County. The first Nugget subscriber to figure out the whereabouts of the gold, track it down and find it, gets to keep the treasure.
All one has to do is follow the hidden clues in the next six editions of The Nugget.
"This is not a raffle," said Aiken."This is an actual treasure hunt. National Treasure-style...But please don’t steal the Declaration of Independence."
Instead you'll just need a Nugget and a treasure hunter’s instinct. Readers will need to scour the next six editions of the paper, as each will contain a different hidden clue. Some will be more difficult to find and decipher than others.
The hunt officially kicks off in the August 25th edition of The Nugget. And, remember, you have to be a Nugget subscriber to be eligible for the treasure.
"So if you’re not a subscriber, now’s the time to sign up," said Aiken. "The treasure awaits!"
