The multi-agency manhunt for Gerardo Jonathan Flowers has come to an end after the suspect deemed “armed and dangerous” by the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office was arrested Monday afternoon.

“I just want everybody to know that we do have Mr. Flowers in custody,” said Sheriff Stacy Jarrard in a Facebook post immediately following the arrest. “… I want to thank the men and women of the sheriff’s office that have been pursuing [him] all night.”

The search for Flowers, who was wanted on charges out of Hall and Habersham counties, began Sunday afternoon when his attempted arrest resulted in gunfire.

“The suspect is shooting at the officers and has fled from his vehicle into the woods,” stated an alert from the LCSO.

Lt. Alan Roach reported that no deputies were harmed in the pursuit and resulting arrest.

The area was under heavy surveillance by authorities throughout the night and morning with tracking dogs on the ground and a Georgia State Patrol helicopter in the air.

“I also want to thank all the men and women, all the state agencies that have assisted us,” said Jarrard. “He is in custody so we’ll take care of him and hopefully we can get him in the right direction.”
