Sandra Joyce Greene Sutton
Ms. Sandra Joyce Greene Sutton, age 82, of Dahlonega, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia due to complications from a sudden illness.
Born in Upson County, Georgia on April 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James Douglas Greene and Altie Allegra Simpson Greene. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Reginald Eugene Greene of Acworth, Georgia.
Joyce was a long-time resident of Dahlonega where she worked at North Georgia College and State University until 2011 when she retired. She was an avid painter and gardener. In addition, she loved NASCAR and was a self-described Mark Martin fanatic and supporter. Joyce also loved animals of all kinds and was a devoted pet-owner
Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deirdre Ann Wrisley and Brad Wrisley of Rome, Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law Derek and Nikki Sutton also of Dahlonega; her four grandchildren, Megan Cook of Decatur, Georgia; Austin Cook of Griffin, Georgia; and Braeden and Matthew Sutton also of Dahlonega.
Joyce will be cremated and her ashes scattered in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place she often called “God’s country.”

Arrangements are being handled by Roper Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper, Georgia. The family is planning a celebration of life service to be held in the afternoon on July 8, 2018 at Dahlonega Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Georgia.
