Michael Wayne Pendleton
Michael Wayne Pendleton, 61, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at his residence in Norton, VA.
He lived most of his life on his own terms, he was not a complainer, was always looking forward to something and was generous to a fault.
His adventures were many as he spent time in college, several years in the newspaper business (sports writer and then managing editor), he rode (as a reporter) in a helicopter with the State Patrol during a drug bust, played donkey basketball, arranged for the Olympic Torch to pass through Dahlonega in 1984 and was named Dahlonega’s citizen of the year for his efforts. He owned, for a short time, an Independent Insurance Adjusting Firm and played fast pitch baseball into his early 50s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nora Pendleton. Michael is survived by his wife, Jennifer Pendleton of Norton, VA; children, Athena Hanks (Ben) of Cartersville, GA, Daniel Pendleton (Cindy) of Woodstock, GA, Josh Pendleton of Kennesaw, GA; his siblings, Frank Pendleton (Bonnie) of Belton, TX, Debra Hopkins of Chattanooga, TN, Dawn Camp (Jack) of Villa Rica, GA, Diane Pendleton of Canton, GA and Nichole Madden (Tony) of Mount Juliet, TN; his grandchildren, Ariana Hanks, Arabella Hanks, Milly Pendleton, Morgan Suttle, Cameron Suttle, Andrew Smith and Alexis Smith; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors.
