Literary Team wins back-to-back Region titles
Once again the Lumpkin County High School Literary Team has claimed a first place finish overall in Region 7-AAA competition.
This marks the team’s third region title in four years, as well as back to back region titles.
Coaches for the 2016 team are Talmadge Smith, coordinator and music coach; Janet Tripp-Smith, essay and extemporaneous speaking coach, and Linda Orwig, oral interpretation coach.
Contestants and region finishers in the March 4 competition held at LCHS are as follows: 2nd place Extemporaneous Speaking Domestic—Walker Stamps; 3rd Place Extemporaneous Speaking International—Andrew Snider; 2nd place Argumentative Essay—Amanda Garner; 4th place Personal Essay—Kirk Roberts; 1st place Rhetorical Essay—Elaina Landrum; 3rd place Oral Interpretation Comedic—Bo Payne; 3rd Place Oral Interpretation Duo—Jordan Garrett and Shari Garrett; 1st place Oral Interpretation Dramatic—Victoria Zappi; 3rd place Girl’s Vocal Solo—Kirsten Mihok; 1st Place Boy’s Vocal Solo—Colton Lewis; 1st Place Girl’s Vocal Trio—Chloe Clark, Jade Kelough, Michelle Nestler; 1st Place Boy’s Vocal Quartet—Colton Lewis, Cameron Lineberry, Landon Tennant, Dalton Sosebee.
The first place winners competed in the State Literary Meet at Veteran’s High School in Warner Robins on March 12.
