While the Dahlonega City Council was passing a wide-reaching stay-at-home order in hopes of curbing the spread of COVID 19, Governor Brian Kemp was in the process of implementing his own executive order for residents of Georgia to stay at home.
The Dahlonega City Council unanimously passed a stay-at-home order within city limits during a Special Called Meeting via the ZOOM teleconferencing app on Wednesday, April 1. The order will take effect this Friday, April 3.

Daycares facilities, barber shops, fitness centers and many other businesses deemed “non-essential” will be forced to close in the City of Dahlonega after the council tightened the restrictions of its coronavirus-related State of Emergency while also issuing a stay-at-home order for city residents.
The campground gates at Dockery Lake were closed on March 21, after the USDA Forest Service shutdown all campgrounds and group recreation areas in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.

The total of confirmed coronavirus cases in Lumpkin County doubled overnight as the reported count jumped from four to eight, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health results released Tuesday afternoon. The same happened in nearby Dawson County as the total doubled from five to 10.
The Holly Theater has postponed shows and programs for the time being due to coronavirus precautions.

In the early hours of Monday morning, the Dahlonega city council voted 4-2 on an amended proclamation calling for a State of Emergency for the City of Dahlonega due to growing concerns about the spread of COVID 19.
