The Dahlonega Marshal’s Office is officially rebranding as the Dahlonega Police Department.
The city council voted to approve the name change at a recent called meeting, just weeks after the new Chief Marshal, George Albert, officially took up duties.

Sorrells steps down as LCHS head football coach

In a called meeting of the Lumpkin County Board of Education Monday, among other business, the board voted to accept the resignation of Lumpkin County High School head coach Caleb Sorrells.
Sorrells came to coach the Indians in 2019 after serving as an assistant at Stephens County High School.

A new building and location for Lumpkin County Elementary School is in the plans. The new school will be built on the site of the former Pinetree Plant near downtown Dahlonega.
