Monday meeting to discuss plans for reservoir amenities
A concept plan for the use of the property surrounding the Yahoola Creek Reservoir, developed in 2008, is up for discussion by the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners Monday.
The board will meet in a called work session April 23 at 4:30 p.m. in the upstairs boardroom of the Administration Building.
A request by the city of Dahlonega to build a bike trail on the property resulted in the BOC dusting off the 10-year-old concept plan.
Developed by a committee that met for several months before coming up with what it considered best use of the 213 acres, it includes an area for an RV park; two children’s playgrounds and botanical gardens—one on each side of the lake; a volleyball court; an 18-basket Frisbee disk golf course; outdoor education center; aquatic center; an amphitheater; walking trail with comfort station; and more.
Also invited to the session are the chairman of the Development Authority and representatives of the city.
Meetings are open to the public.
