BREAKING NEWS: Fire torches Dahlonega hardware store
A fast-burning blaze tore through Dahlonega’s C&W Hardware Thursday evening, bringing the metal structure to the ground in a matter of minutes.
No one was harmed in the fire, said Lt. Alan Roach of the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.
Lumpkin County firefighters were on the scene moments after the 911 call went out just before 5 p.m.
Utilizing a ladder truck and multiple hoses on the ground, emergency workers were able to successfully douse the wall of flames that had quickly taken down the roof of the building.
Meanwhile, LCSO deputies closed off an approximate quarter-mile stretch of North Grove Street as firefighters continued to work to contain the fire which put off a pillar of smoke that could be seen throughout much of the county.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been confirmed.
