Barbara West Bales

Resident of Dahlonega

Mrs. Barbara West Bales, age 76, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Saturday July 12, 2014 at Gold City Convalescent Center following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Bales was born in Dahlonega, Ga. May 23, 1938

Barbara was employed with the Lumpkin County Health Department as well as Gwinnett County and after retiring moved to Panama City Beach, Fla. with husband Charles “Cotton” Bales where they were members of the First Baptist Church of Sunnyside. Barbara most enjoyed visits to the beach by her children and grandchildren and will forever remain in our hearts.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Carlton and Eula Mae Hall West and was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Cotton” Bales; and a son, Johnny Grant.

Barbara also known as “Mamaw,” is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Eddy and Jo Grant, Dahlonega, Ga., Tommy and Donna Grant, Buford, Ga., Rodney and Yasmin Grant, Buford, Ga.; stepchildren, Marie Jenkins and Lane Banks; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlton “Bud” West Jr. and Sue West, Dahlonega, Ga., Danny and Debbie West, Buford, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Arnold Gurley, Royston, Ga. 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Barbara was held Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga. Rev. Mike Hosch officiated.

Ethel Tate Grizzle

Resident of Dahlonega

Mrs. Ethel Tate Grizzle, age 88, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Monday, July 28, 2014.

Ethel was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, and a member of Cavender Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and avid gardener who loved to give to everyone she knew.

She was the daughter of the late Sam and Matilda Hefner Tate, and is also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Frank M. Grizzle; son, Mitchell Grizzle; daughter-in-law, Brenda Anderson Grizzle; and several brothers and sisters.

Ethel is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Frances Grizzle, Tracy and Ann Carder Grizzle; daughter and son-in-law, Norma and David Smith; grandchildren, Danny and Mary Grizzle, Tina and Joey Clonts, Toby and Missy Grizzle, Chad Grizzle, Amy and Bryan Anderson, Nolan Grizzle and Melissa Garrett, Wendy Smith, and Brandon and Dana Smith. Numerous great grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs.Grizzle are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga. Rev. Stephen Adams, Rev. JR Fields, and Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega until time of service on Wednesday, July 30, 2014.

Edna Dale Ingram

Resident of Warner Robins

Edna Dale Ingram, 88, of Warner Robins passed away Tuesday July 22, 2014 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Ingram was born January 12, 1926 to the late John and Annie Louise Dale. A resident of Dawsonville most of her life, she was a very loving and hard working mother. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Ingram, four brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Sandra and T.C. Bynum, Warner Robins; son, Stanley Ingram and Patty Sawyer, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Robert Bynum, Ben Bynum, Lydia Zeigler, Anson Ingram, Jenifer Jenkins; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Estelle Cain; sister in law, Irene Collier; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday July 26, 2014 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Doug Doyle officiated. Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery.

Mary Lou Ward Jarrard

Resident of Dahlonega

Mrs. Mary Lou Ward Jarrard, age 82, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Chestatee Regional Hospital following an extended illness.

Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, and a member of Yahoola Baptist Church. When she was younger, she was co-owner of the Dairy Queen in Dahlonega.

She was the daughter of the late Bruce and Estelle Tolbert Ward, and is also preceded in death by her husband, Rupert “Glad” Jarrard; and sister, Billie Mabry.

Mary Lou is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerrell and Patricia Ingram; son, Michael Mabry, all of Dahlonega, Ga.; grandchildren, Greg and Buffi Evans, Tammy Wilson, Chris Ingram, and Ashley Do; great grandchildren, Jayson Stevens, Alyson Evans, Camryn Williams, Hunter Turner, and Joseph Wilson; and great great grandchild, Lainey Stevens. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jarrard were held Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga. Rev. Scott and Dawn McQueen officiated. Interment followed in the Yahoola Baptist Church Cemetery.

John Alexander Lonholm

Resident of Dahlonega

John Alexander Lonholm, age 65, of Dahlonega, Ga. passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

John was born and raised in Philadelphia, spent 20 years in Gwinnett County, and the past six years in Lumpkin County. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and retired from Hewlett Packard, where he worked as Project Manager. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Lonholm is preceded in death by his son, Brian John Lonholm.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 42 years, Joyce Lonholm; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Chance Lewis, Brookhaven, Ga.; sister, Caryl Haynes, Houston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Jim Grant, Cal.; grandchildren, Micah Brian Lonholm, Caleb John Lonholm, Liam Michael O’Brien, Meghan Grace O’Brien, and Justin Mitchell Lewis.

A Celebration of Life was held for John on July 26, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga.
