Barbara Lucille Ash Anderson

Resident of Dahlonega

Mrs. Barbara Lucille Ash Anderson, age 82, of Dahlonega, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2013 with her loving family at her bedside.

Mrs. Anderson was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dahlonega and retired as a cafeteria worker with the Lumpkin County School System after 27 years of service. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Ben Wesley Ash and Era Cordelia Wilkins Ash, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Albert Marion Anderson; son-in-law, Harold Lanier Vickers; and brother-in-law, Rev. Jewell Dowdy.

She is survived by her children; Bobby Marion Anderson Sr. and his wife, Barbara Joyce, Dawsonville, JoAnne Vickers, Dawsonville, James Ricky Anderson Sr. and his wife, Mary Lou, Lula, Gina Jones and her husband, Scott, Murrayville, Teresia Lucille Satterfield and her husband, Phil, Dahlonega, and Johnny Anderson, Murrayville; brothers, Dr. J. Wade Ash and his wife, Martha Nell “Boots”, Powder Springs, Ford Ash and his wife, Marie, Gainesville, Ga., and Ben Ash Jr. and his wife, Alice, Gainesville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Eva Anne Dowdy, Dahlonega; and brother-in-law, John Edward Anderson and his wife, Helen, Marietta. Eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Friendship Baptist Church in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lance Fuller, Rev. Lyman Caldwell, and Rev. Terry Head will officiate.

Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park.

Frances Jane Staton Moore

Resident of Cumming

sed away Friday November 22, 2013 at Tara Plantation in Cumming, Ga.

Frances was born August 20, 1928 in Gainesville, Ga. and was the daughter of Hoyt and Ophelia Staton.

Frances was an only child but loved to be around people.

She came to Dahlonega in 1945 to attend NGC. She met Henry W. Moore Jr., known as “Corky” Moore and became his wife. She later had daughters, Betsy and Margaret.

Frances loved Dahlonega and her church family of the Dahlonega United Methodist Church where she was a member since moving there. Over the span of 66 years, Fran volunteered for many duties including children’s Sunday School teacher, wedding director, bereavement organizer, meal organizer, flower coordinator, choir member, and later, a member of the Prime Time Sunday school class.

Frances worked at the Lumpkin County Court House for 31 years and retired as Lumpkin County voter registrar.

Frances leaves behind her husband Corky Moore, of the home; her daughter Betsy and son-in-law Jim Cameron of Lexington, N.C., and her daughter, Margaret Sosebee of Dahlonega.

Frances, known as “Nannie Frances” has six grandchildren, Bryan Cameron and wife Rachel, David Cameron and wife Holly, Kevin Cameron, Jordan Cameron, Kimberly Sosebee Cain, and Stephanie Sosebee Sharpe and husband Matt. She also has eight great-grandchildren, Madison Sharpe, Quinton Sharpe, Chloe Cain, Erin Cameron, Casey Cameron, Ethan Cameron, Carson Cameron and Caroline Cameron.

A memorial service for Mrs. Moore was held Monday, November 25, 2013 at Dahlonega United Methodist Church.

Rev. Gerry Davis and Rev. Steve Schofield officiated.

Phillip ‘Brandon’ Hobbs

Resident of Dahlonega

Philip “Brandon” Hobbs, a 10-year resident of Dahlonega, went to Heaven to be with his mother Patricia Karen Hobbs on November 20, 2013.

Brandon, 39, was born in Patuxent River, Maryland July, 29, 1974. He is a graduate of Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Ga., and served our country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Tarawa from 1994-1997.

Brandon was warehouse manager for Well Being Hygiene in Gainesville, Ga. He was passionate about people and loved his family, friends and co-workers.

He is survived by his father Philip “Gary” Hobbs; step-mother Jean Owens Hobbs; sisters Brittney Schmidt and Lindsay Morales; step-sisters Holley Shearer and Heather Ricklefs; nieces Aubrey Schmidt, Ellery Shearer and Hadley Ricklefs and nephews Oliver and Gabriel Morales, Grey Shearer and Owen Ricklefs. He also leaves behind uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will remember his generous giving spirit, loving heart and willingness to help anyone who needed him.

In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations to Toys for Tots or Children’s Miracle Network to celebrate his love of children and gift-giving.

A memorial service was held at the Dahlonega Funeral Home on Friday, November 22, 2013.
