Fourth of July Family Celebration moved due to threat of rain

Because of the possibility of inclement weather in the north Georgia area on Thursday, Dahlonega's Fourth of July Family Celebration has been moved to Saturday, July 6.

All events, except the Firecracker 5k/10k run, will take place on Saturday.

Thursday, July 4

7:30 am - Dahlonega Firecracker 5k/10k Start (Registration at 6:30 am)

9:00 am - Fun Run Start, Located Near the University of North Georgia Drill Field



Saturday, July 6

8:00—Noon - Dahlonega Farmers Market in Hancock Park

8:30—8:55am - Registration for "Pups & Patriots" in Hancock Park Pavilion

9:00—10:00am - Patriotic Costume Contest To Benefit PAWS Spay/Neuter and Dahlonega Dog Park

12:00 pm—5:00 pm - Kids Fun Zone in Hancock Park, Inflatables, Games, Home Depot Workshop

10:00 am—6:00 pm - Community Service Corner on Historic Downtown Square

10:00 am—4:00 pm - The Lumpkin County Historical Society will be opening the 1884 Old Jail for free tours

10:00 am—5:00 pm - Gold City Classic Car Club Show, Located at Courthouse Hill on East Main Street

12:00 pm - Patriotic Ceremony on the West Lawn of the Gold Museum, Mayor Gary McCullough, Master of Ceremonies, Major Mike Ramsey, Keynote Speaker

2:00 pm - Old Fashioned Watermelon Eating Contest, Sponsored by the Dahlonega Nugget, Dahlonega Wal-Mart and PR Threadworks, Free Watermelon Slices to the public in Hancock Park following contest

2:00 pm—5:00 pm - Enjoy Live Music and Entertainment with the Appalachian Jam, Located on the Dahlonega Gold Museum Lawn

5:00 pm - Independence Day Parade in Downtown Dahlonega

6:00—9:00 pm - Star Spangled Picnic on the UNG Plaza - Picnic Served at 7:30pm (Reservation required)

6:00 pm—Dark - Music & Entertainment on the University of North Georgia Drill Field - Concert by Kurt Thomas Band, Home Depot Grill Raffle Winner Announced!

At Dark - Spectacular Fireworks Display from the University of North Georgia Campus, presented by the Chamber of Commerce Community Committee
