Hannah Thompson Culbreth
Hannah Thompson Culbreth, age 19, of Dahlonega, died Monday, August 6, 2012, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Hannah was born in Gainesville, Ga. and lived most of her life in Lumpkin County.
She is survived by her daughter, Riley Nicole Culbreth; mother, Peggy Clarke Grizzle; father, Terry Thompson; grandparents, Ellen and Benny Smallwood, Connie Nix, and Harold Clarke; brothers, Anthoney Lee Dodd and Joshua Blake Dodd. Numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Community Chapel Congregational Holiness Church in Lumpkin County.
Rev. Robert Garrett, Rev. Marty Murphy, and Rev. Larry Patton officiated.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Ralph Andrew Pierce
Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Ralph Andrew Pierce, age 99 of Murrayville. Mr. Pierce passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 11, 2012 from Wahoo Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Head, Rev. Les Fuller, and Rev. Verner London officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Pierce was born in Lumpkin County on October 17, 1912 to the late C.D. and Ona Chapman Pierce. He attended North Georgia College and taught at Eastside School for a number of years. In addition, he was an established plumber and electrician and accomplished musician.
From 1935 to 1981 he owned and operated with his family C.D. Pierce and Son Grocery. It was during that time that he became affectionately known as the “Checker King.”
Mr. Pierce served with honor during World War II, participated in the Normandy Invasion and has the distinguished honor of being the oldest veteran in Lumpkin County, as well as the oldest living member of Wahoo Baptist Church, where he served for many years as the Adult Sunday School teacher.
Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Pierce, and sister, Tommie Pierce.
Survivors include his foster brother and sister-in-law Donald and Doris Flanagan of Murrayville; grandchildren Becky and Daniel Fuller, also of Murrayville, Kevin and Stephanie Flanagan of Fairfield, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Evan Gentry, Allyson Gentry, Aidan Flanagan, Garrett Flanagan and Merrick Flanagan.

Richard John Nave
Richard John Nave, age 68, of Cleveland, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Mr. Nave was a Rhode Island native who had lived in White County for the past six years. He was a former Florida resident. He was a field service engineer with Siemens, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and member of Friendship Baptist Church in White County.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Nave and a granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Nave.
Mr. Nave is survived by his wife, Beth Nave, Cleveland, Ga.; mother, Madeline Buteau Nave; children and spouses, Troy and Julie Nave, Marc and Nonie Nave, Tim and Lenora Nave, Jonathan and Christa Bryan, Jared and Mary Bryan, Jeremy Head, Jordan and Judy Head, Colleen and Andrew Kolberg, Melanie Head; adopted son, Brayden Head; brother, Michael A. Nave Jr. and his wife, Eileen. 20 grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Nave are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
Rev. Steve VanAmburg will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in White County.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Robert W. Holmes Sr.
Mr. Robert W. Holmes Sr., age 77, of Gainesville, Ga. died August 7, 2012, at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega.Mr. Holmes was cremated and no services are planned at this time. Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
