“The second theft occurred after we had put controls in place, but they were evidently not followed,” said County Manager Stan Kelley.
Following discovery of the second theft, Senior Center Director Gail Monroe gave notice she would retire, Kelley said.
“She sent her notice in yesterday,” Kelley said on Thursday. It was effective immediately.
Monroe held the director’s position since 2008.
Eddy Harris, who runs the county’s animal shelter and has held various positions in the county over the years, will handle the day-to-day operations at the Center, overseen by Community Employee Services Director Alicia Davis.
