Earl Sanford

Mr. Earl Sanford, age 67, of Dahlonega, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at his residence in Dahlonega following a brief illness.

Earl was a native of Lumpkin County and of the Baptist faith. He was a retired truck driver for Milton Foods.

Earl was the son of the late Earlie Grady Sanford Sr. and Edna Wood Sanford, and was also preceded in death by son, Earl “Buddy” Sanford III, and sister, Thelma Edwards.

Earl is survived by his wife, Dot Sanford of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Anna Sanford of Dahlonega; son, Dwayne Whitt, Atlanta; daughters, Shirley Steiner of Alabama, and Lynn Hendrix of Arkansas; daughters and sons-in-law, Karan and Jerry Stephens, Gainesville, Ga., and Vickie and Garrett Harris of Dahlonega; brothers, Horace Sanford, Lula, Ga., and John Sanford, Jackson, Ga.; and sisters, Alma Virginia Morgan and Erlene Sanford Hicks of Dahlonega. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiated.

Interment followed at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Billie Lee Kelly

Billy Lee Kelly, 83, of Cleveland, Ga., passed away on December 15, 2012.

Born in Emis Texas, he is the son of the late Mr. Ray and Lorene Hardin Kelly of Fort Worth, Texas. He is predeceased by his three brothers.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife; Mrs. Carmen Marron Kelly of 55 years; son, Fransisco Jose Cosio-Marron; four sisters, and three grandchildren.

A memorial service with final interment services will be held at a later date.

Carl Ernest Wimpy

Mr. Carl Ernest Wimpy, age 73, of Dahlonega, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega.

Carl was a native of Lumpkin County and a graduate of Lumpkin County High School. He was a retired self-employed bookkeeper and of the Baptist Faith.

Carl was the son of the late Ernest Franklin Wimpy and Mae Pruitt Wimpy, and was also preceded in death by brother, Henley Wimpy and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie M. Wimpy, Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Carl E. “Buck” Wimpy II and Lisa Wimpy, Dahlonega; son, Clay Wimpy and his fiancé, Kirsten Weaver, Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy F. Wimpy, Griffin, Ga., Loy “Bud” and Annie Wimpy, Dahlonega, Allen and Elaine Wimpy, Griffin, Ga., Melvin Wimpy, Dahlonega, Jeff Wimpy, Gainesville, Ga, Jackie Wimpy, Cleveland, Ga., and Wiley Wimpy, Dahlonega; sister, Marjorie Mason, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Tony and Amanda Hodges, Taylor Ross Wimpy, Christopher Chase Wimpy, Aiden Garrett Wimpy, and Summer Brooke Wimpy; great-grandchildren, Kenlie and Peyton Hodges; and Baby Boy Wimpy, who will be born in February. A number of other relatives also survive.

A private service was held for Carl December 18, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel.

Grace Edge

Miss Grace Edge, age 78, of Dahlonega, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.

Grace was a homemaker and avid gardener, and a wonderful aunt and caregiver to her nieces and nephew. She was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and of the Baptist Faith.

Grace was the daughter of the late Homer Edge and Bessie Grindle Edge.

She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, James and Hazel Edge; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Marion Burnett; sister, Lorraine Edge; nieces and nephews, Renee and Ricky Smith, Kimberly and Craig Cantrell, Jennifer Burnett, and Jason and Heather Burnett, all of Dahlonega.

Funeral services for Grace were held December 23, 2012, at the Philippi Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Rev. JR Fields and Rev. Jason Fuller officiated.
