John (Jack) Neal White
John (Jack) Neal White, age 90, of Clayton, Ga., passed away at his residence Thursday, April 19, 2012.
He was born in White County, Georgia and was the son of the late John Hiram and Lina Elizabeth Ballard White.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Kelly White; sons, Neal White and David Bowen; son-in-law, Dennis Harkins; a brother, Charles White; and three sisters, Mildred McLeroy, Sarah Rainey and Jonnie Ragland.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Alexander White; son, Steve White and his wife Barbie of Clayton; three daughters, Terri Harkins of Clayton, Deborah Heard and her husband Cleon of Lakemont, Ga. and Suzanne Parks and her husband Johnny of Clayton; two step-sons, James Bowen and his wife Stacey of Salt Lake City, Utah, John Bowen and his wife Laura of Panama City, Fla.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was a Golden Gloves Boxer and joined the Navy in 1939 at the age of 17. His home base was Pearl Harbor and he served in the Pacific Theatre for six years and was involved in seven sea battles. He served on the battleship USS Texas, the cruiser USS Portland, and other cruisers. He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Jack was an X-ray Technician, was a Master Mason, a member of Yonah Lodge in Cleveland, Ga. and owned a dry cleaning business in Helen, Ga., the Princess Theater and Cleveland Drive-in, and was owner/administrator of Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, Ga. and Mountain View Convalescent Center in Clayton, Ga.. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, and a friend to all.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Clayton Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Gateway Memorial Cemetery in Cleveland, Ga.

Mr. Ray Maness, age, age 70, of Dahlonega, died Tuesday April 17, 2012, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
Mr. Maness was a Jackson County native who had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 52 years.
He was retired from the Burlington Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega and also owned and operated a video store in Dahlonega for a number of years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Ray was the son of the late William Maness and Louise Crumley Maness and was also preceded in death by brother, Eugene Maness; sisters, Mary Smith and Joyce Mayo.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Maness, Dahlonega,; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Elaine and Charles Martin, Gainesville, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Elizabeth Maness, Gainesville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Gail Maness, Elberton, Ga. Several other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held April 20, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiated.
Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega.

Lonnie D. Jones
Lonnie D. Jones, age 78, of Dawsonville passed away Friday April 20, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born June 2, 1933 in Lumpkin County to the late Pool and Edna Jones, he lived all his life in Lumpkin and Dawson Counties. Mr. Jones was formerly employed at Pine Tree and worked in various areas of the poultry industry. He enjoyed fishing, beekeeping and raising chickens. Lonnie was a deacon at Mill Creek Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by sisters, Jeannie Burt, Margie Saine; and brothers, Lee Jones and Carlton Ash.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Greenway Jones, Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Pennie and Lloyd Fowler, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Hailey Fowler, Adam Fowler; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Gaddis, Dawsonville, Ruby and Jerry Barron, Dawsonville, Janet and Gary Pendergrass, Gainesville, Roy Saine, Dahlonega; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd “Bug” and Christine Jones, Dawsonville, Cecil Jones, Dawsonville, Boyd “Bo” and Ruth Jones, Dawsonville, Kathryn Jones, Dawsonville; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday April 23, 2012 at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Pilcher and Rev. Tom Stradley officiated. Interment followed in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
