First responders honored in our new special section

For some, a job is just a job.
It’s a place you go to clock in, clock out and leave behind for the rest of the day.
For others, a job is a calling.
It’s a chance to serve. It’s the chance to make the community a better place.
And, at its best, it’s the chance to be a hero.
This week's special section is dedicated to those people.
It’s a well-deserved salute to the firefighters, emergency workers, police officers and deputies who spend their days and nights protecting and serving the residents of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County.
They are heroes.
But chances are they wouldn’t describe themselves as such. So allow us to.  
And allow us to extend a sincere thank you to all those brave men and women who put themselves at risk so that we can be safe.
