The annual ConnectAbility 5K will return to downtown streets on Saturday, Sept. 9. Along with it, comes the long-awaited rematch of the Tortoise and the hare. They will hopefully hop and/or crawl their way to the finish line on the outskirts of Hancock Park.
In previous years this head-to-head matchup ended in a draw as the four-legged competitors from North Georgia Wildlife didn’t seem interested in finishing strong.
“It seems that neither of them understood the purpose of the finish line,” said event organizer Kim Bell. “Perhaps we were a hare too short?”
Of course, the main event is the fundraising 5K itself where more traditional human athletes will run, walk and roll through town for the 13th annual race.
The race starts at 8 a.m. at Hancock Park.
Participants can get there early and sign up before the race or at connectabilityinc.org.
